Seequent will be hosting a series of free, virtual workshops on the basics of Leapfrog Energy and its applications in well planning and geological modeling.
Seequent, The Bentley Subsurface Company, will be hosting a series of free, online workshops on Leapfrog Energy from 28 November to 5 December 2023. The workshop series will cover the basics of Leapfrog Energy and its applications to well planning, flow modeling, and geological modeling in sedimentary basin environments.
Leapfrog Energy was launched in May 2023, expanding the company’s subsurface modeling capabilities and helping the energy industry to solve the challenges of the rapidly evolving transition. Leapfrog Energy brings together Seequent’s world-leading geological modelling solution and geostatistical capability, along with the company’s experience in geothermal, mining, civil engineering and environment, into a targeted industry solution.
The workshops will be presented by Vaiva Cypaite and Oliver Ward, Customer Solution Specalists, Energy for Seequent.
The details of the individual workshops are as follows:
Leapfrog Energy: Basics and Model Building
Date and time: November 28 at 9AM & November 29 at 1PM (Europe/London)
Registration: Register via this link
Over two 4-hour morning sessions, you will learn the basic concepts and tools necessary to start using Leapfrog Energy: introduction to the interface, basic geological modelling, dynamic model updating and output generation. During the workshop, you will build a basic geological model using well data, maps, GIS lines and structural data. You will also learn the basics of numerical modelling and practice using geophysical and temperature data.
Join an 8-hour interactive workshop covering:
- Navigating the user interface
- Basic functions and workflows
- Importing and visualising well temperature and geophysical data
- Working with GIS data, maps and photos
- Basic geological and numerical modelling
- Dynamic model updating
- Building a geological model without wells but with other data such as a geological map, structural measurements or cross-sections.
We will also teach how to use features in Leapfrog Energy for report writing or presentation purposes, such as image rendering, sharing scenes with Leapfrog Viewer, and creating movies and cross-sections.
Datasets and access to Leapfrog Energy will be provided during the workshop sessions.
Leapfrog Energy: Well Correlation and Directional Well Planning
Date and time: November 30, 2023 at 9 AM – 10 AM (Europe/London)
Registration: Register via this link
In the first part of the session, you will learn how to use well correlation. You will view and compare selected wells in a 2D view, create interpretation tables based on different data sources and use this data to generate models.
During the second part of the session, we will focus on planning different types of wells. We will practice planning a directional well with various sections, evaluate and visualise existing models, review the prognosis table and export it in different formats.
Join a 1-hour interactive workshop covering:
- Well correlation tools and techniques
- Directional well planning
Datasets and access to Leapfrog Energy will be provided during the workshop session.
Leapfrog Energy: Flow Modelling
Date and time: November 30, 2023 at 11 AM – 12 PM (Europe/London)
Registration: Register via this link
This workshop will demonstrate the interoperability between Leapfrog Energy, MODFLOW, FEFLOW, TOUGH, ECLIPSE™, and STARS. You will practise creating, editing, and exporting flow models for further numerical simulations.
Datasets and access to Leapfrog Energy will be provided during the workshop session.
Leapfrog Energy: Sedimentary Basin Workflows
Date and time: December 5, 2023 at 11 AM – 12 PM (Europe/London)
Registration: Register via this link
This course will teach you to build a geological model based on well and seismic (SEG-Y) datasets and data analysis using block modelling techniques.Join the 4-hour interactive workshop covering:
- Importing 3D seismic SEG-Y data
- Building a geological model from seismic horizons and well data
- Evaluating results onto discrete block models
- Performing calculations, applying filters and reporting modelling results
Datasets and access to Leapfrog Energy will be provided during the workshop session.
